Cheap Tunes

Allofmp3.com is officially my favorite (not so) new web service. Music legally downloaded for pennies on the US dollar. AllofMp3 is based out of Russia and utilizes a Russian Multimedia license to offer music to the masses. Don’t ask me, or the millions of others who are already using the service, but this service is totally legal under the current agreements and license.
From the site:
All materials in the LLS Internet Audit projects are available for distribution via Internet according to license #LS-3M-P3M-06-13 of the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society. Under the license agreement, LLS Internet Audit pays license fees for all the materials subject to the Law of the Russian Federation “On Copyright and Related Rights”. All the materials are available solely for personal use. Any further distribution, resale or broadcasting is prohibited.
I tested the service out over the weekend. For just under $20, I’ve downloaded almost 12 full albums. The average album costs just under $1.50, with individual song prices ranging between $0.11 and $0.15 each. You can choose from several file versions to download. But, the most common is the 192kb MP3 file. They offer full version CD quality, but at higher prices. (192kb MP3 is what all of my music files are stored as.)
The crew at AllofMP3.com has been keeping busy. They’ve recently launched AllTunes.com. It’s a piece of software that you download that gives you full access to their catalog, and easier downloads from their AllofMP3 service. Same company, same music, just packaged to mimmick the iTunes software.
Give it a shot.
